Licensed Child Care
Licensed child care is regulated by law to meet specific standards of care. It is also inspected and monitored by Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services to help provide a healthy and safe environment for children. Licensed child care also provides programs to support children's early learning and healthy development so they can enter school ready to learn. There are two types of licensed child care: centre-based care and home-based care.

Home-Based Care PDF Print E-mail

Licensed home-based child care is monitored by home child care agencies licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Providers are allowed to care for up to five children under 10 years of age in addition to their own. Home child care agencies train and support home child care providers. The agencies are required to visit and inspect each home once every three months.

Haldimand-Norfolk R.E.A.C.H. is the licensed child care agency in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. Centre-Based Care

Licensed centre-based care is provided in a variety of physical settings such as schools, churches, public and commercial buildings. In Haldimand and Norfolk, it is provided by non-profit community boards of directors and private sector operators.
