How do I qualify for Fee Subsidy? PDF Print E-mail
Ontario's Ministry of Children & Youth Services requires that all applicants complete an "income test" to determine eligibility for fee subsidy. (The income test is not required if you are on Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program.) Eligibility is based on your family "adjusted income". Adjusted income is the net income that is stated on line 236 of your most recent income tax - Notice of Assessment form (NOA) for yourself and your spouse.

If your family's adjusted annual income is less than $20,000.00 per year, you will qualify for full fee subsidy and will not need to pay for your child care. If your family's adjusted annual income is more than $20,000.00 per year, you will be required to pay a portion of your child care costs. The amount you will pay is based on a sliding scale.

If you are required to pay a portion of your child care costs, you must pay your assessed parental fee directly to the child care program or agency that your child is registered in. If you qualify for full fee subsidy, Children's Services will pay the full amount, or partial fee if applicable, directly to your child care provider each month. If you have questions about your fees, or if you think the bill is not correct, contact your Children's Services case manager immediately.

To see if you might qualify for fee subsidy, try our "Quick Income Test". Need to add quick test calculator similar to Waterloo's. http://www.region.waterloo.on.ca/web/social.nsf/Fee_Calculator.hmtl?OpenPage

To use this calculator, you will need the information from line 236 from your Income Tax - Notice of Assessment (NOA) as well as your spouse's (if applicable). If you do not have your NOA, call the Canada Revenue Agency at 1-800-959-8281 and ask that a "Print Option C" be mailed to you.
