Effective January 1, 2007 Ontario's Ministry of Children and Youth Services introduced a standardized Provincial income test to determine if a family qualifies for child care fee subsidy. With this income test, eligibility for child care fee subsidy is based on your family's annual "adjusted income". Adjusted income is the net income that is stated on line 236 of last year's Income Tax - Notice of Assessment (NOA) form for yourself and your spouse (if applicable).

Families with an adjusted annual income of less than $20,000 per year qualify for full fee subsidy (i.e. they do not need to pay for their child care) if the meet all other eligibility criteria.

Families with an adjusted annual income of more than $20,000 are required to pay a portion of their child care costs. The amount the family will pay is based on a sliding scale.

To see if you might be eligible for fee subsidy, try our "Quick Income Test".

To use this calculator, you will need the information from line 236 from your most recent Income Tax - Notice of Assessment (NOA) as well as your spouse's (if applicable). Or your family's net income amount from your most recent Canada Child Tax (CCTB) notice.

If you have not filed your income tax return, you cannot apply for child care fee subsidy.
