Unlicensed Child Care
Unlicensed Child Care PDF Print E-mail
Unlicensed child care is provided by adults who care for up to five children (plus their own) under the age of 10, without a license from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Unlicensed care may be provided by relatives, friends, neighbours or nannies. This type of care is not regulated by law and is financially supported almost entirely by parents.

If you are interested in an unlicensed caregiver but are not sure where to find someone, you may wish to contact the Haldimand - Norfolk Ontario Early Years Centre (a Division of Haldimand-Norfolk R.E.A.C.H.). The Ontario Early Years Centre (OEYC) maintains an Informal Child Care Registry which lists available caregivers across Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. For more information about the Informal Child Care Registry, call the Caledonia OEYC at 905-765-1661, the Simcoe OEYC at 519-429-2875 or toll-free at 1-866-463-2759 (1-866-HN-EARLY).
